The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General N.S. Rajasubramani, announced on Wednesday that Agniveers will be given a two-year extension to join the armed forces. The decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to expand recruitment opportunities for the youth.
The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Defence Ministry. According to the statement, the extension aims to provide more time for eligible candidates to complete their training and meet the required criteria. The policy change is expected to benefit thousands of young individuals who have completed their initial training but have not yet been inducted into the armed forces.
This move follows recent discussions between defence officials and recruitment authorities on ways to improve the efficiency of the recruitment process. The extension is seen as a positive step towards addressing the challenges of manpower recruitment in the military. It also aligns with broader government initiatives to enhance national security and modernize the armed forces.
